Florence: Apothecary
My wife found the Apothecary San Marco for me. It is just round the corner from the church and museum of San Marco, home of many wonderful Fra Angelico paintings. The Apothecary (no longer in use) faces onto the Via Camillo Cavour, which is a very busy thoroughfare with very narrow pavements, so take care if you go to take your own photographs. - All these words are carved…
- … into hard stone.
- it is a magnificent portfolio…
- …of some anonymous craftsman.
- Of life?
- A beautiful letter.
- I wish my Italian was better.
- We know what this was.
- Quite a range.
- The lettercutter has been given…
- …free rein with these panels.
- It seems these monks…
- …made everything.
- After the sun went in…
- …the stone turned grey.
- The things they used to dispense…
- This doesn’t sound good.
- A worrying word.
- An earlier sign, alongside the entrance.
- The arched fanlight over the doorway.
